The three Ambition Boards, one for each countywide ambition, are:
1. To Grow The Economy
2. To Tackle Disadvantage
3. To Put Citizens In Control
Ambition Boards will provide a focus on the three Countywide Ambitions, stimulate effective joint working between county and local partners that deliver against county and local priorities, and support the development of the localism agenda through Locality Boards.
The role of Ambition Boards is to:
- operate strategically for example by:
– stimulating new ways of creative and innovative working;
– challenging local, county and national barriers to improvement;
– cascading good practice
- support and challenge Locality Boards to ensure delivery of local priorities that contribute to the countywide ambitions
- absorb, oversee or otherwise manage the work of existing partners
- wherever possible take forward any additional responsibilities (statutory or other) rather than create additional partnerships.
The ‘core’ membership of each Board will comprise both elected Members and senior officers including:
- four District Council Leaders (or the Chairman of the Fire Authority)
- three District Council Chief Executives (or the Fire Service Chief Executive)
- two KCC Cabinet Members
- one KCC Chief Officer
Additional membership of each Board will be driven by the business needs of that Ambition. This could comprise senior representation of key agencies such as police, health, probation, voluntary and community sector, business sector and so forth.
For further details on membership please see the relevant Ambition Board page.
Each Board will also be invited to present a progress update against its own action plan to both the Joint Kent Chiefs and Kent Forum meetings on a regular basis.
Each Ambition Board will bring together a range of resources to help deliver its priorities. Some of these resources will rest in individual agencies and some will be specific to the Ambition Board.
